Christmas Cards

I really got a jump start this year, and made most of my Christmas Cards this weekend; well at least I have 32 made, I may need a few more. The technique I used this year was called Iris Folding for the main part of my cards. I used my Cricut to cut a 3 inch circle into the dark green card stock. I then used an Iris templete and Origami Paper to make the middle portion (the Iris Folds). I then attached these to gold speckled cards stock. The greeting inside of each will vary, depending on the recipient of the card. Below are 6 examples of my cards, all 32 are unique, so I was difficult to decide which to show you.

If you are interested in making your own, there are good instructions and templates available at this site! http://www.handcraftedgreetings.com/irisinst.html

Winter’s In The Air

Well here is my latest ATC for you to enjoy. It is not extremely clear, since it is textured, and did not lay flat on the scanner. The little girls on the sled are my mother and her older sister. The photograph was taken in the mid 1930’s.

Altered Photo Coasters

Well, if my daughter is reading my blog, she will know a couple of things that she will find in her Advent box.

We have a family tradition that I wrap up small gifts for the kids to open up, one a day, the 24 days before Christmas. Daughter is away at college, and will not be home until late on the 15th of December, so I am working on getting a package of the first 15 sent to her. These little pictures are made from coasters that you can slide a picture into. I put in our cats, and embellished them so that she can enjoy their company through the holidays.

Another idea for February

I am not so sure that the bear that I posted earlier really works for the Altered Art calendar exchange that I am in. I went back to the drawing board yesterday, and came up with these two ideas:

Feb -- vintage postcard

Feb - Kimono

I’m on a roll! I finished a project last night for my Altered Art Group.

The first picture is of the whole project, and the other 3 are seperate scans of each CD.

3 cd’s covered with a scanned copy of Silent Night, Netted Fabric, Brads and Buttons, and Carolers from a Vintage 1970’s Christmas Card.

Trash to Treasure? at least i hope so!

I have been working on stuff, lots of stuff in the unfinished form are laying on my desk and our living room floor.  I am having one of those weeks where I start lots of things, hopefully to finish them soon.  My priority will be the Altered Art wall hanging I’m working on.  We are having company this weekend to celebrate or son’s 21st birthday, and there is a blank wall in the living room waiting for this.

Last week when we had our wine of the month delivered, I pondered the uniques shape the bottles were packed in.  As I clean out a corner in the garage, I found more unique packing material.

What will they become?

What will they become?

Well, I thought about it, and thought they could make a very cool wall hanging.  I have started painting them to match our wild couch, and have placed them up in various ways, here is where I am at.  Be sure to check back during the week as I post my progress.

Really, I do have an idea in my head!

February 2009 Calendar

Really, I have been creating — but this project has taken a while, so I had nothing to post until now since I had to make 13 of the same thing.

I am in an altered art group making a 5″ by 5″ 2009 desk calendar. I chose to do February. It sure seemed strange working on a “valentine” at this time of the year.
