I am starting to play with ideas for the next mingle coming up in late February in my altered art group. The theme is Fairy Tales, and the first idea I came up with was related to Alice in Wonderland.
Since I plan on making a few, then deciding which one or two to throw into the mingle, I will post them here as I finish them.
Painting the Roses Red
Well, I have been busy finishing up 16 pages for a Valentine fatbook in my altered art group. We each contribute 16 similar pages, and the host assembles them into a book which she sends back to us. Below is my contribution. I am calling it school days, since it is suppose to remind you of the folders that you made for your valentine exchanges in elementary school. I photographed it full, empty, and took a picture of the mini valentines that are in the folder.
Today history was made!

This is my entry for the Ladies in Big Hats mingle in my altered art group. The photo was taken on May Day in 1943 in a small town in south eastern South Dakota.
Well, this is how I used the junk picture below to interpret “Mother Earth” I am not happy with how it came out, but everyone had one set of all the same items to work with. Once I committed with glue, I was stuck. Hopefully it was a growing experience.
As many of you know, I joined an altered art yahoo group late late year. I have been having fun participating in the mingles and swaps. I decided to host my own swap in the group dedicated to Mother Earth. Yesterday I sent envelopes out to 7 people (I Make 8 for the swap) of identical items. Their challenge is to use at least 7 of the items in a 5″ by 5″ (or less) piece, depicting their interpretation of “Mother Earth”. Below is what everyone has to work with.
I did manage to squeeze a new ATC in today. It is for my altered stArt yahoo group. The theme was Sugar and Spice. If you look back at my other ATC’s you will see my first attempt at this theme. It was the ballerina dancer. I am struggling to get away from the scrapbook look to my ATC’s, but I just haven’t found my nitch yet! I will just keep plugging along until I do!
Sweet
I have not posted in a while, because I haven’t had anything interesting to post. No art, no fun activities, nothing. I am just feeling brain dead. Truly I think the tiling job (still unfinished) sucked my mind dry. It is so monotonous putting one tile up after another, even breaking up the pattern with design and color, I will post a finished picture later, but we won’t be working on it again until the weekend. It is a two person job, and hubby has returned to work.
Maybe I am just melancholy since two of the three kids are already back at school. My daughter is back in Wisconsin, and I won’t be seeing her again until late May when I fly back and drive home with her. The youngest is back to high school, so no more sleeping in for me, he needs motivating in the morning. The oldest is home until the middle of this month, lol and it is noon here and he just rolled out of bed. I don’t blame him though, it is nice to turn the brain off during breaks. When he goes back, he starts his last semester of his senior year, graduating in May with two bachelor degrees, a BS in Physics, and a BS in Chemistry. I know he has a tough semester ahead of him with senior projects.
Maybe I just need some fresh air, I tend to be a homebody and have to have a very specific reason to get out.
Check back tomorrow, I WILL have art posted!!!!! I am going to put away the fat book group project that I am working on (won’t be hard to put away, I am suffering from artist’s block on it), and I am going to just do some art for the sake of doing some are. I have a friends b-day coming up, and I have a special card in mind that I want to make!
Well, I really have not done much art the last couple weeks. Busy with the tiling, and my daughter was only home from college from the 16th until today. Before bed each night I took a little time to work on a 3 D Collage, this was new to me and I spent a considerable amount of time moving things around and changing things. Gluing is such a final step. Everything is mounted on the 12″ by 12″ blue paper ready to be framed. I am not 100% sure if it is done or not, but I need to set it aside and work on some other stuff.
